Oh Come, Oh Come Immanuel - Advent, Week 1

Posted by SC Kids on

Through this past Sunday's lesson, "Oh Come, Oh Come Immanuel," it is our hope your kids will begin to understand why Jesus came to Earth, how people knew he had come to Earth, and why we can place our hope in Him. Below is a summary of what scripture we studied, their memory verse for the week, and a prayer and application you can review as a family.

Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Kid friendly: The Lord will give you a sign! A son will be born named Immanuel!

How did people know Jesus had come? Why did God send Jesus?

Memory Verse:

“The Lord will give you a sign! A son will be born named Immanuel!”

Sing “Oh Come Oh Come Emmanuel”

“Dear Lord, thank you so much for keeping your promises. Thank you for giving the people of the Bible a sign from the prophet Isaiah. You told them that a baby boy would be born named Immanuel, and what you said was true! You keep your promises, so we can hope in you. Thank you for sending Jesus to pay for our sins so that we can be close to you. Help us to remember you are with us all the time just like your name says.

We love you Jesus. Amen.”

“God always keeps his promises, just like he promised Jesus and he gave us Jesus! What can you promise to do this week to show the love of Jesus to your family or friends?”

(Have children share.)

“Be sure to keep your promise!”
